Seriously, Keep it Simple, Stupid
Monday, July 30th, 2007
Like Scott, I spent last week in Portland attending OSCON. The first session I went to was a joint talk given by Rasmus Lerdorf and Thomas Sha. Rasmus is a Yahoo! software architect and the creator of PHP. Thomas is the head of YUI development. They spoke about strategies for helping Javascript and PHP developers [...]

Google Blocks SERP Tracker for Bad Behavior
Monday, July 30th, 2007
First, the bad news….
If you’re a frequent user of Sitening’s SERP Tracker, you may have noticed a lack of results over the past week. It looks like the sleeping giant has finally noticed us. If you’ve ever managed to get blocked, you may recognize this message:
We’re sorry…
… but your query looks similar to [...]

Google SEO Update: Underscores, URL Depth and More!
Friday, July 27th, 2007
Stephan Spencer, from CNET’s News Blog, posted an informative entry about changes that are taking place with Google’s search engine. Of particular interest was the news from Matt Cutts regarding underscores in URLs. Traditionally, underscores were treated differently from hyphens.

Sunday, July 15th, 2007
Ever since we tricked Fake Steve Jobs (FSJ) into revealing his obscure, but geographically revealing IP address, some high profile Apple enthusiast sites have taken the story to new heights and fluffy realities. Thanks in part to Radio Active Code Blog and his theory that FSJ is really Bostonian Andy Ihnatko, Mac fan-boys (and fan-men) [...]

Tracking Fake Steve
Thursday, July 12th, 2007
Fake Steve Jobs has become a cult celebrity on the net over the past year. His parody of Real Steve Jobs is almost always hilarious and often times insightful. His popularity grew even more when Real Steve and Bill Gates admitted to reading the blog at All Things D last month. It’s no wonder that [...]

iPhone Sudoku
Friday, July 6th, 2007
Ever since attending the iPhone development session at WWDC last month, I’ve been itching to build my first web site for Apple’s new device. Tonight I took some time off and set out to see what I could come up with. I gave myself a time limit: two hours. I wanted to build something that [...]
