Organize Your Documents with Yep
Wednesday, March 28th, 2007
One of the best things about using a Mac is the software. The PC world simply can’t match the level of quality software that Mac users interact with every day. Sure, Windows users have the same programs from big companies like Adobe, Microsoft, and Intuit, but I’m talking about the small 3rd party developers. These [...]

How-To Use Valid XHTML Tags in TextMate
Tuesday, March 27th, 2007
Here’s a tip I just now found out about. In TextMate, the HTML bundle has a ton of available snippets. Unfortunately, they don’t automatically add the closing trailing slash for certain elements. For example, instead of inserting
<br/> or <input type="text"/>
TextMate inserts
<br> or <input type="text">
(Note the missing trailing slashes.)
You can change this behavior by going to
TextMate [...]

New Ruby Gem Paves Way For Future of Web Development
Monday, March 26th, 2007
Today I was scanning my del.icio.us links and came across an amazing new gem for Ruby on Rails called Hobo. It promises to be an “open-source extension to Ruby on Rails which helps you build full blown web applications incredibly quickly and easily.” And, let me tell you, it’s pure genius.
Rails itself is a layer [...]

Adobe Apollo Bundle for TextMate
Friday, March 23rd, 2007
Since the announcement of Adobe’s new cross-platform runtime, Apollo, I’ve been busy building sample applications and dreaming up new ideas. To make this easier, I created a quick Apollo bundle for TextMate. It’s very basic, but it gets the job done. It includes the following items:
Application Descriptor Template
Debug Command - launches a debug instance of [...]

WebDU 2007: SEO Down Under
Thursday, March 22nd, 2007
The WebDU 2007 conference has been jam packed with excellent speakers, talented designers and fun events. Adobe has a very strong presence at this conference and many of the sessions touched base on many of their new and upcoming products like Apollo and CS3. I’m not allowed to talk about the new CS3 functionality, but [...]

WebDU 2007: Countdown
Tuesday, March 20th, 2007
I’m currently in Sydney, Australia for the 2007 WebDU conference. I’ll be presenting on Optimizing Standards Based Websites for Search Engines (aka SEO). My first impressions of Sydney have been relegated to downtown Sydney. It has the feeling of a smaller New York City.
When I got in my taxi and told the driver to take [...]

Line Protocol
Thursday, March 15th, 2007
I frequently visit my favorite coffee shop in the morning before work. This particular shop is quite popular and they’re always fairly busy. Most of the time people know how to form and stay in a line, but occasionally it all breaks down. This morning was one such time.
I had seen this (not a) line [...]

New CAPTCHA Proposal & Diggless RSS Restored
Friday, March 9th, 2007
xkcd has a new CAPTCHA approach that may replace all of the current CAPTCHAs that are being used.
Also, Digg blocked our feed that takes their feed and then creates a better, stronger, able to leap tall buildings feed. The Sitening Digg(less) RSS Feed should be good to go, for now.

New TextMate Book Available
Thursday, March 1st, 2007
Sitening’s favorite editor for developing websites — TextMate — has a new book for learning the ins and outs of this amazing program. It’s called, “Textmate: Power Editing for the Mac.” The book description says it all, although I’m not sure about the ninja part.
TextMate is a powerful tool for programmers, web designers, and anyone [...]
